How to talk about your shortcomings at an interview

1. Objectivity

Do not say that you have no shortcomings. Everyone has disadvantages, no need to be shy. In order to grow and develop professionally, we must objectively evaluate ourselves.

Admit that you, like all people, have flaws, tell us how you work on yourself to get rid of them. It’s good if you already have some results in this direction. Do not forget to mention them - this is a great opportunity to demonstrate, by example, the ability to learn and develop.
2. Turning disadvantage into advantage

Each flaw is a kind of virtue. The main thing is to look at it from the right side. Look carefully at the job description before you go for an interview. Match the items in the description with your benefits. Is it possible to interpret some of your disadvantages as advantages? And vice versa?

For example, if you apply for a position of a manager of a sales department, the disadvantage is “excessive attention to detail”, for example:

“I usually spend too much time listening to a client. Many sales professionals quickly give out advice without thinking about the details, but it’s important for me to know that I understood the buyer correctly. ”

So you accidentally say that you know how to listen and identify the needs of the client. But there was no shortage.
3. Compliance with recommendations

Everything you said at the interview can be checked. Recommendations are the easiest way. It is important for each recruiter that the words of the candidate do not diverge from the words of his recommenders. 4. Focus on professional skills
